Caulfield Cup 2026: the early market takes shape

The Caulfield Cup on 17 October is the first of the spring’s great handicaps, and the early market is already sorting the genuine Cup horses from the hopefuls. Weight, barrier and a proven 2400 metres are the three things we come back to every year.

Over the coming weeks the Guide will map the lead-up runs that matter and tell you plainly which of the fancied runners we think are overs, and which are unders.
