Bravo: a Miller’s Guide immortal
Bravo was an outstanding Australian racehorse of the late 1880s, renowned for his exceptional stamina and weight-carrying ability. Foaled in 1886, this tough bay stallion became one of the most consistent performers of his era, competing successfully from two years old through to his six-year-old season.
On the track
Bravo's racing career spanned from 1888 to 1892, during which he proved himself in the toughest staying races in Australia. His greatest triumph came in the 1889 Melbourne Cup, where he defeated a quality field to claim Australia's most prestigious race. Known for his reliability and courage under big weights, Bravo consistently performed at the highest level throughout his career, winning numerous important races and placing in many others. He was particularly effective over longer distances, showing the stamina that was the hallmark of the Grand Flaneur line.

Legacy
